I am a writer of things for children and adults. I live part time outside of Detroit in Michigan and most of the time northeast of Knoxville in Tennessee in the Appalachian Mountains.

I moved to this remote spot when a whim turned into an overwhelming desire to live on a mountain and write - alone - except for my dogs. Coincidence found me a home. Chance and a couple of stray puppies, led me to involvement in an effort to build a much-needed animal shelter in this county. And through that involvement I've made many friends.

Instead of lurking in my hermit cabin writing a manifesto, I'm learning from my friends about all sorts of unexpected stuff from pulling a calf to running a non-profit organization. I am on the Board of Directors for the animal shelter, in charge of Public Relations. I am following my dream to write, and amazed at the subject matter; animals, sheltering, the wonderful people I've met, and the interesting places I've been.

I put myself in the hands of the nebulous three; whim, coincidence, and chance, and totally landed on my feet. Is it luck or fate? Who cares! I'm just glad to be here.
